As a parent, you should always be concerned with the things that will help your kids become healthier and strong. The good thing is that there are so many items that you can provide to your kids to ensure that that they remain active and occupied all the time. For instance, when your one or two year old kid starts to walk, you are supposed to provide them with a good bike. Bikes are known to help young children to get better balance and stamina. Choosing the right balance bikes for your kid shouldn’t give you problems since there are so many brands that you can purchase for your kids. However, some people find it extremely hard to differentiate between balance bikes and normal bikes.

If you really want to help your kid to acquire enough balance and stamina, you have to choose for them the best balance bikes. These are important because they come with great features that help the kids to learn how to balance themselves while they are riding a bike. Wood or Steel: Which Frame of Balance Bike should you buy?

Posted on April 11, 2012 by saurabh sahni

Wood or steel frames are currently ranked among the most popular and common frames found in most balance bikes. Though this is the case, there is a distinct difference between these two and the technology they offer is just as different. These also have different features and longevity concerns and as such, you need to weigh your options carefully and understanding how to choose the best. In order to ensure you make the right decision, it is important to look at what they have to offer and how these differences can influence your decision.

Seat Adjustment

The seat adjustment is without question one of the major concerns parents have when looking at a child’s bike. Unfortunately, wooden frames are known to have small seat adjustment capabilities while steel offers a better option with an adjustment capability of 11 to 16 inches. There are some manufactures known to provide adjustments which can be enhanced in accordance to personal tastes and preferences. .

Wear and Tear

Wood frames are less durable compared to steel which is known for its durability and stableness. The finish on steel is also known to be more durable and what is more, such bikes can be passed down from one child to another without any notable damage. In addition to this, regardless of how tough the play is, you can rest easy in the knowledge the bike won’t get damaged.

Handlebar Adjustment

Steel balance offers bikes adjustment handlebars and as such, they are seen as an ideal choice among children of all ages. The wood frame has a one handlebar set and while this is the case, it cannot be adjusted and this means that when your child grows out of it, you will not have any choice but to buy a new one.

Footrests

When it comes to footrests, a variance is noted in accordance to the bike’s manufacturer. In this case, there are some steel frames which are integrated with footrests while others are not. This is important because it makes it easy for a child to glide and balance with ease. Most of the wood frames are known to lack any foot rest and as such, considered uncomfortable and especially, as far as kids are concerned.

Seat Ergonomics

Wood balance frames are designed using hard plywood that is uncomfortable and as such, not an ideal choice. On the other hand steel is made up of concrete and high quality seats and as such, parents and children prefer the same. With these, they can ride for several hours without raising any concerns and it is for this reason that they come in highly recommended.

These are just some of the comparisons that make steel frame better than wood. In a nutshell, steel lasts longer, provides the rider with better comfort and is considerably affordable. With this information, it should be easy to make an informed decision and choose balance bike frame that means every individuals needs. Without this understanding, it is considerably easy to make a misinformed decision and this could cost you in the long run.

Schwinn Sidewinder 26 inch Ladies Mountain Bike Review

Posted on February 13, 2012 by Kenny

Hit the open road with this Schwinn Sidewinder 26 Inch Ladies Mountain Bike. I have to admit that I have been a little disappointed with the workmanship of the Schwinn brand lately. I remember when the schwinn brand meant quality from the ground up. But now plastic is used too much on most of these bikes. That is why I was surprised to see aluminum pedal stems on this bike. Check out the review and maybe you will see something that will surprise you.
