Kinderbike was conceived in a small town Bavarian village of Lenggries, Germany in 2004. Since its inception that company has changed very little. In the beginning Heinz Petzold gave his grandson Luke a laufrad (run bike) for his second birthday and KinderBike was born. Fast forward KinderBike introduced the first run bikes to the North American market in 2005. Since then Kinderbike has delivered hundreds of thousands of bike to young riders eager to learn the skill of riding a bike.

Kinderbike affords parents the tool needed to get their children out from in front of the television and get them outside and active as they glide their way along short walks. KinderBike's since the beginning has had a commitment to quality which has bolstered it's reputation and encouraged both traditional bicycle retailers and parents to ditch the old training wheels in favor of this "balance-first" method. Since then, the "balance-first" method has been widely accepted as the most effective way to teach young children to ride a bike and has spurred a host of imitators.
